Dubbed “Boogie Woogie Slim” by Memphis Slim and “Jean-Paul Boogie Woogie” by Milt Buckner, Jean-Paul Amouroux is the leading piano exponent of boogie-woogie in France.
From a young age, he discovered the joys of boogie-woogie’s “walking bass” line. As a boarder at a religious school, he even played boogie-woogie on the chapel organ – much to the consternation of the resident nuns!
Today, he regularly plays piano at the famed Caveau de la Huchette, a treat for aficionados of the genre.
